Transcript: METAFORRA discusses its GameFi and EdTech platform on Neo Live AMA


A prize pool of US $150 worth of METTA tokens was shared among five participants in the Neo Live AMA series featuring METAFORRA COO Arthur Issabayev.

METAFORRA is a GameFi ecosystem that focuses on mobile and cross-platform games. Additionally, the platform has an NFT marketplace and educational technology components. With METAFORRA, we aim to address issues associated with Web3-integrated games, like listing in Apple and Google Play, improving onboarding, and building a solid gameplay and player experience.

As part of the AMA, Arthur talked about the motivation for the METAFORRA team, the differences between play-to-earn and play-and-earn, METAFORRA’s unique fundraising method, and plans to integrate NFTs into the platform.

Sam Wang (NGD marketing): Hi Arthur, thanks for joining us today. Could you give us a quick overview of METTAFORRA?

We still wear many hats at METAFORRA because we’re used to this startup environment. But now we are forced to split roles, so I am the COO.

In a nutshell, METAFORRA is a Web3 game development studio that is building an ecosystem.

What is the METAFORRA project?

The METAFORRA ecosystem consists of several mobile and cross-platform games, an NFT marketplace, and an EdTech platform, which provide access to high-quality play-and-earn games and solve major Web3 gaming issues.

Can you elaborate on the specific problems METAFORRA specifically addresses in the Web3 gaming space?

We noticed some major problems with many Web3 games before we jumped into the space from traditional web development.

Firstly, almost none of the Web3 games are listed on popular application marketplaces, such as the AppStore and Google Play, which means they’re missing out on a huge audience.

As a second problem, most Web3 games have a problematic user onboarding process that involves connecting players’ external wallets.

“Futuructa,” our first Web3 title, solves all these issues. It is available on AppStore and Google Play, is playable upon download, and was built with a focus on game mechanics, design, and user experience.

How do play-and-earn and play-to-earn differ?

Arthur: Yes, there is a significant difference. P2E typically implies a high entry barrier and a promise that players will be generously rewarded for playing. Such a scheme, however, has a fatal flaw – once the user acquisition curve plateaus, the project is no longer able to make payouts, because the funds from the new players are used for payouts.

Despite not charging high entry fees, other P2E projects suffer from inflation because they continually distribute tokens to players.

Our P&E games are primarily designed to provide players with an exciting game experience, and earning money is secondary to that. Also, we don’t charge entry fees and don’t scatter tokens everywhere.

In a down-trending crypto market, how is METAFORRA fundraising?

We have secured investments from several private investors and grants during the Seed Round despite the current market situation.

The Private and Public rounds will be launched through an Initial Locked Offering (ILO, aka SAFT wNFT) with DAO ENVELOP, the same company that ran Animoca Brands’ ILO.

With SAFT wNFT, multiple assets can be wrapped in an NFT with extended functionality in the form of time locks, collateral, and royalties. Consequently, the ILO will facilitate our token sale by selling NFTs that give holders access to our tokens.

What are your thoughts on a partnership with Neo? How will it affect the growth of METAFORRA?

Arthur: We are delighted to be partnering with Neo – an established network with a large community and an exceptional technology platform. In addition to providing us with invaluable resources for expanding our reach and delivering more innovative solutions to our customers, this partnership enables us to tap into Neo’s extensive network of users and industry experts.

What measures are in place to help newcomers understand how to play-and-earn the game? What makes METAFORRA unique?

A goal of our hybrid Web2 / Web3 ecosystem is to seamlessly integrate the traditional gaming community into the Web3 world. We eliminated the need to connect external wallets. Furthermore, newcomers will not notice the Web3 component until a specified point in the game.

What is the secondary market availability of METTA tokens?

We’ll keep you updated on the start date of the ILO (alternative to IDO) on our social media channels.

The white paper can be found on our website, and we plan on starting the pre-sale in March.

Is METAFORRA planning to integrate NFTs?

Futuructa will introduce it soon (NFTs will be used as boosts and skins to customize the experience), and Quantum War will go even further since it will be a card strategy game.

How did you build a strong global community to grow the project? And how did you get the community involved in the development of the project?

To date, we have built a small but helpful community (20,000 downloads), and we have received a lot of assistance from the community during the bounty campaign with testing, translation of game content to different languages, and bug reports. Our team is attentive to the community’s requests, and we are very open to suggestions.
